We at the Nutritional Aesthetics® Alliance, are grateful to be connected to wonderful organizations, as well as brilliant and talented minds in the integrative skincare arena. The contributions made by our Advisory Board panel, membership partners, and members are a key part of how we are fulfilling our mission to grow this exciting field of practice.
As we continue to grow our industry partnerships, it’s so important to us that we choose people and organizations whose missions complement our own. That’s why we were so happy when Christèle de la Haye, Vice President of Les Nouvelles Esthétiques & Spa magazine and the International Congress of Esthetics & Spa reached out to us to foster a collaboration.
Les Nouvelles and the ICES (which happens every year in Dallas, TX; Philadelphia, PA; Long Beach, California, and Miami, FL) are longtime leaders of the aesthetics and spa industries in the United States, and abroad. Not only do they focus on curating quality content and listening to their audience; but they also strive to elevate the status of aestheticians and other spa and wellness practitioners, both in how these professionals are perceived by the public, and in how they perceive themselves.
An integrative skincare shift
Further, both the magazine and the congress have taken a noticeable shift to feature more holistic and integrative aesthetic and wellness modalities. What used to be a trade show and conference with more of a conventional focus, we’re thrilled to see such an integrative skincare focus on the main stage, with lectures and demonstrations designed to nourish the practitioner, as well as the clients. This is something we feel strongly about and teach as well, because energy, whether positive or negative, transfers from one person to another, to another, like a ripple effect. When you create safe space or lend your touch to help another person feel better, it’s imperative that you as the practitioner feel peaceful and well first.
While the congress still features plenty of educational offerings on the more conventional side of the industry, such as scientific advances in ingredients and spa technology, this year’s ICES features a separate event: the Spa + Wellness Summit. This array of workshops is designed to inspire aestheticians with the virtually untapped market of wellness in the spa, and introduce new holistic and integrative skincare treatments that encompass the body, mind, and spirit.
The Spa + Wellness Summit is something that Christèle de la Haye is particularly proud of, as she shares in Rachael’s interview with her.

Christèle’s passion for the Spa + Wellness Summit, plus the more holistic and integrative focus of both Les Nouvelles and the ICES is palpable. It’s no small coincidence that the NAA’s mission statement is encapsulated in the sentence “passionately advancing an integrative approach to healthy skin.” That’s why we’re so happy to be aligned with Christèle, Les Nouvelles, and the ICES. When forming collaborations, it may seem logical to make connections based on face value things like content, audience crossover, and commitment to excellence–but there’s absolutely no substitute for passion or heart.
