We’re incredibly proud of NAA members and the unique ways that they apply Nutritional Aesthetics® in their personal and professional lives. It’s our goal to support them and share their wisdom by highlighting their stories with you in a periodic ‘Member on a Mission’ feature. Our latest featured member, Maryanne Riege,is a Wisconsin-based Integrative Nutrition health coach and aesthetician. Earlier in her career, she was inspired to pursue education on the relationship between wellness and healthy skin after seeking a holistic approach to personal experiences with skin issues and depression. Today Maryanne practices at The Ommani Center for Integrative Medicine, as well as in her own private practice.

What excites you the most about the Nutritional Aesthetics® Alliance?
Maryanne Riege:
Nutritional Aesthetics Alliance, NAA, is an organization of which I’m so proud to be a
member. Their core beliefs on skin care and nutritional resonate loudly with me. It’s
great having a sound organization where I can continue to learn more about nutrition and
how it relates to our skin’s health. I’ve listened to most every webinar and have taken
away valuable information to share with my clients as well as refer to the card file packs.

How do you apply Nutritional Aesthetics® principles to your work?
Maryanne Riege:
I’m able to apply many of the NAA’s principles to meet each client’s individual needs. When
working with clients, we talk about the many aspects of their lives and collaborate
together creating an action plan to help them on their journey to better health. I start with
a consultation to learn more about the person such as their background, food
preferences, current skincare products they’re using, exercise routine, etc. If one of my
clients is experiencing a nagging skin condition, I can refer to the card pack and share
that information with them and share information I’ve learned from the NAA webinars as
well. The resources available through NAA, combined with my nutritional certifications
and professional aesthetics knowledge, enable me to help my clients as best as I’m able.

Please complete this sentence, and elaborate as much as you wish: “For optimal skin
health, I wish people would do more of ___________________, and less of
___________________.
Maryanne Riege:
For optimal skin health, I wish more people would use food as medicine and focus on eating a
plant based diet and less of using and relying on pharmacologicals. If people would only be
more patient and “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,” they would be able to
age optimally! In our society, we have the mindset of instant gratification – we want a quick fix.
I remind my clients that it’s taken awhile, sometimes a lifetime, for things to have accumulated
or manifested in your body. Give yourself the gift of time and patience to repair what’s
happened over a lifetime!
We want to hear from you!
