We’re incredibly proud of NAA members and the unique ways that they apply Nutritional Aesthetics® in their personal and professional lives. It’s our goal to support them and share their wisdom by highlighting their stories with you in a periodic ‘Member on a Mission’ feature. Our latest featured member, Maxine Drakeis a world class teacher, motivator and aesthetician business success coach.

With over 25 years of professional experience in the skin and beauty industry, Maxine is the definitive voice in helping individuals achieve their personal best in the aesthetics industry. With a proven track record of success, Maxine’s career spans from working in a single treatment room to leading a team of 18 employees as owner of a full-service salon and spa that thrived amidst the difficult financial crisis of the early 2000’s. During that time Maxine created optimal business solutions and worked hard to ensure the success of her business.

After a successful run as a spa owner, it was time for Maxine to shift gears. She packed her bags, moved to Hawaii and became a sales rep for a leading professional skincare brand and a Director of Sales for another professional brand. During this time Maxine met numerous aestheticians with passion and commitment, but they also shared a similar struggle: most of them struggled in several areas of business development, ranging from low sales and number of clients, to weak marketing strategies. Her experience working with aestheticians as a skincare sales rep helped her to realize that many needed advanced guidance to help accelerate their growth. From that moment she became committed to helping aestheticians achieve their highest earning potential and achieve their personal best.

Member on a Mission: Maxine DrakeToday, Maxine attracts aestheticians into her Esthetician Business Academy, who are just as dedicated to improving their business model as there are to their own personal growth. The Esthetician Business Academy helps skincare leaders achieve optimum growth and achieve their personal best.

Maxine’s definition of aesthetics goes beyond the science of aesthetics; it is concerned with the study of the mind and emotions in relation to the sense of beauty.

We spoke to Maxine about the role that Nutritional Aesthetics® plays in her business and her approach to skin health:

NAA:

What excites you the most about the Nutritional Aesthetics® Alliance?

Maxine Drake:

I have always believed in the NAA’s mission in spreading awareness regarding good nutrition, and skin health. This is our future.

NAA:

How do you apply Nutritional Aesthetics® principles to your work?

Maxine Drake:

I believe we must focus on our “internal world” first, in order to create our magnificent outer world. This means taking care of our body, our emotions, our mind, and nurturing our spiritual self. Eating healthy, getting adequate sleep, and drinking plenty of clean water so that our bodies function optimally. Making time for exercise, doing things that bring us joy, and watching a sunrise or sunset. Connecting to something larger than ourselves. I coach aestheticians to ritualize these principles in order to be good leaders, as well as practice these rituals myself.

NAA:

Please complete this sentence, and elaborate as much as you wish: “For optimal skin health, I wish people would do more of ___________________, and less of ___________________.”

Maxine Drake:

For optimal skin health, I wish more people would spread love, kindness, and engage in more human interactions – for this releases endorphins and makes your skin glow. I wish people scheduled more facials and massages on a regular basis as a way of life (similar to Europe and other countries). I wish people would spend less time on their phones, beating themselves up for not being good enough, and thinking they have to do drastic, invasive things to their face and body in order to be loved and accepted.

We are so grateful to Maxine Drake not just for being a dedicated member of the Nutritional Aesthetics® Alliance, but also for offering special pricing on her Esthetician Business Academy exclusively to NAA members.
