Write for the NAA Blog

Dear NAA Member,

We’re so excited to have you as a member of the Nutritional Aesthetics™ Alliance and we’re thrilled you want to write for the NAA blog! Before you submit your guest blog for consideration, please review and understand the following guidelines. If you have any questions about the guidelines, please ask before you submit–submissions received that don’t follow guidelines cannot be considered for publication. Unfortunately we are not able to publish all submissions. You will be informed ahead of time if your content is selected to be featured. Thank you for your submissions!

Content Guidelines:

  • All articles must be original and must not have been previously submitted elsewhere for consideration.
  • Any and all quotes, statistics, or borrowed content MUST be properly linked to and/or referenced.
  • Please check your facts and proofread your work. We reserve the right to edit the post or may choose to not include it at all if it requires too much editing.
  • We also reserve the right to add images and/or my own text/affiliate links if appropriate.
  • Again–we edit all submissions to fit in with the overall tone, voice, etc of the Nutritional Aesthetics Alliance.
  • Please keep word count between 500 and 800.
  • You may include images if you want as long as you have the permission to use them, and provide us with the proper attribution.
  • All submitted content that is published on nutritionalaesthetics.com and any related social media platforms becomes the copyright of the Nutritional Aesthetics Alliance, LLC and may not be reproduced without written permission (they may be linked to from other pages however). All contributors must sign a copyright waiver and release prior to final approval and publication.
  • We do not offer compensation of any kind for posts, but they are always shared to our full following, to our email subscribers, and social media followers.
  • We are looking for articles on the following subjects:
    • Nutrition
    • Skincare ingredients
    • Aesthetics and spa treatments
    • Implementation (how-to)
    • Green beauty
    • Holistic/alternative/complementary modalities (herbalism, aromatherapy, acupuncture, Ayurveda, TCM, etc)
  • We are happy to give you guest author credit. Please include a brief author bio and/or photo and links to your website.

Stylistic/Editorial Guidelines:

  • Choose active voice over passive voice whenever possible. Here are some examples:
    • Passive voice: “Focusing on a gut health is important for maintaining healthy skin.”
    • Active voice: “It’s important to focus on gut health to maintain healthy skin.” OR “Focus on gut health to maintain healthy skin.”
  • One space after periods, commas, semi-colons
  • No space surrounding em dashes/double dashes (This–instead of — this).
  • Avoid overuse of quotes–double quotes should be reserved for referenced sentences/excerpts. Use ‘single quotes’ around quoted terms/phrases when necessary.
  • Avoid using slashes to communicate this or that. Here are some examples:
    • Healthy diet/lifestyle habits–avoid
    • Healthy diet and lifestyle habits–use instead
  • Avoid using capital letters for emphasis–choose italics or boldface instead and be conservative with emphasis.
  • Use the serial comma–this means using a comma before the word ‘and’ in a sentence. Both are grammatically correct, but serial comma might read better online. Example:
    • Serial comma: I’m going to the store to buy eggs, greens, and fresh fruit.
    • No serial comma: I’m going to the store to buy eggs, greens and fresh fruit.
  • Subheads–capitalize the first letter of the first word, the rest are lowercase (unless a proper noun), and no punctuation at the end
  • Use contractions consistently. They read better online.
